DIRECTIONS (from 2006 race)
The actual lineups of boats will be provided prior to the races by the coaches.
Petite Finals may be unfamiliar to many of you. In large racing events with many teams and boats competing, Petite Finals are held to allow boats eliminated in the initial heats to compete in the final. The boats get a second chance.
So, if there are three heats, the top two boats of each will advance to the final. The boats in third and fourth place of each heat will go to the Petite Final and the top two boats of that race will advance to the final. Said another way, there are eight possible lanes in Lake Natoma so the final will consist of the top two boats of each of three heats and the top two boats of the Petite Final. This process can lead to amazing results!
