At the beginning of each
season the food coordinators for the Men's and Women's crew meet and
discuss a menu for the rowers at each race. This menu is generally the
same for each race, although the quantities differ based on the length
of the event and the number of rowers expected to race. The menu does
change over time with input from the rowers.
For the first race of the 2005-2006 season the menu for each rower will
be:
· 1/2 bagel with cream cheese
· 1 serving of fruit
· Crackers and peanut butter
· 1 energy bar - power/luna/cliff bar (usually there are extra
bars available)
· 1 - 16 oz bottle of water
· 1 - 8 to 12 oz bottle of juice or Gatorade
· Almonds
For the first race of the season, The River City Junior
Regatta, the Food Committee will be providing and serving all the food.
After the first race, they will figure out how to share the work and
the expense with the team families, and what if any changes will be
made in what food is provided. We aim to top up rowers’ energy
levels and maximize their enjoyment.
