Berkeley Crew is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to supporting competitive rowing for students at Berkeley High School and to teaching Bay Area youth ages 12+ in our summer Learn to Row program.

1. Establish and maintain programs to recruit and retain rowers so that BHS Crew reflects the diversity of Berkeley High School.
2. Establish and maintain programs to recruit and retain rowers so that our youth Learn to Row program (ages 12+) reflects the diversity of Alameda, Berkeley, Oakland, and the rest of the East Bay.
3. Generate funding to cover the team’s operational and capital expenses, ensuring that the team has access to the water using well-maintained, competition-quality equipment.
4. Provide logistical and other support (such as transportation, food and travel lodging) to enable the athletes to train and compete.
5. Provide a competent and stable coaching staff. Direct and support the coaching staff to educate athletes in teamwork, the techniques of rowing, nutrition, fitness, and competition in an atmosphere that emphasizes shared purpose, commitment, integrity, sportsmanship, personal growth, and self-esteem.
6. Manage the team’s finances, taxes, insurance, official records, and other administrative needs.
7. Provide for communications within the Berkeley High Crew community and to the larger outside community.
8. Encourage and support the academic achievement of Berkeley High School student-athletes.
9. Help educate parents of new rowers about the sport and the team.
The Board meets quarterly at 7pm on the third Thursday of the month.
